X-Ray Telescope

You Will Need:
• A sweet tube
• A round chip cone
• Some lolly pop sticks
• Some black and silver card or paint



•   Take a sweet tube and carefully cut it, a third of the way down.
•   Flatten out the small part and cut a semi circle out of either end.

•   Put the two pieces of sweet tube together like this.

•   The semi circles you cut into the smaller part will help it join.

•   Paint the whole thing, or cover it in silver and black card.

•   To make the stand, stick three sweet tubes around a chip cone in a tripod formation, and glue some lolly sticks on the tubes.

•   aint it all however you like.

•   Balance your telescope on top of the stand. You could add some film canister lids for extra effect.

 
•   Now it's ready to use! Look through the telescope, placing your hand to the side of it.
•   It will look as though there's a hole in your hand!

Raining Cats And Dogs

You Will Need:

• Two bowls
• Five plastic cups
• Some paper maché
• Lots of lengths of wool
• An elastic strap
• Some cling film
• Some water balloons
• Some A4 pieces of card


•   Try and catch the water balloon cats and dogs in the upside down umbrellas - complete with comedy wigs!
•   To make the game, get your Finger Tips on two bowls.

•   One of the bowls needs to be able to fit over your head and the other one needs to be a bit bigger.

•   Cover them both in two layers of cling film.

•   To get the umbrella shape, you'll need about five plastic cups.

•   Cut off the bottom and carefully cut up the side.

•   Bend the cup back on itself, so that you get a crease in the middle.

•   Then turn the bowl over and tape the cup on like this.

•   Continue all the way round with the other cups to get the umbrella shape.
• Add some paper maché to the bottom of the head bowl - just cover the base for the time being.

•   Then place the umbrella bowl on top of the head bowl.
•   Go carefully when doing this because it might be quite heavy especially if the bowl is made from glass!

•   Cover both bowls with at least 3 layers of paper maché.

•   Make sure the joint in between the two bowls is really strong.

•   Leave it to dry for a couple of days.

•   The paper maché needs to be thoroughly dry before you try to remove the bowls, plastic cups and cling film.

•   When it's dry you can paint it - this one's done in Finger Tips colours!

•   Don't forget to paint the inside as well.

•   Then for comedy effect, and maximum comfort, you can add a crazy wig.

•   Do this by sticking on lots of lengths of wool.

•   Add on an elastic chin strap.
•   The rain for the cats and dogs game comes from filling water balloons.

•   Stick on some card legs and a couple of card ears. You could even use a left over strand of wool for the tail!

•   So don't be a wet weekend, make the Raining Cats and Dogs game!

Fingers And Thumb

You Will Need:

• Some sheets of coloured card
• A shoebox
• Some wooden kebab skewers
• Some beads
• Some cotton reels
• A crisp tube container




•   Glue down four rows of coloured squares onto either a cardboard box card or polystyrene base.
•   Lie them out so that the diagonal is as big as your outstretched hand.

•   For the decision maker, simply paint a shoebox whichever way you like.

•   Carefully cut some wooden kebab skewers down so that they're slightly wider than the shoebox.

•   Onto each skewer thread a bead, a cotton reel and a crisp pot that you can make a hole through.

•   On the other side of the crisp pot, thread another cotton reel and a bead, to keep it in place.

•   Now make four slits down the shoebox, about as deep as the crisp pots and far enough away from each other so that the pots will be able to spin.

•   Slot the rollers in, with the beads sticking out.

•   Next, for the diagrams on the rollers. One needs to indicate a finger or thumb, and the other a coloured square.
•   Draw them on cardboard first and stick them round the crisp pots.

•   Don't forget to cut two windows into the lid of your shoebox with an arrow on each so that you'll be able to spin and see what decision has been made by the spinner.

•   To play the game, take it in turns to spin!

•   If, for example, the roller lands on yellow and the other lands on the thumb picture, you must put your thumb on a yellow square!

•   Keep going - it gets much trickier as the game progresses...

Sparkling Snow Picture


To make this, you will need...

Take three sheets of paper of the same size. Put the darkest one to one side for now.

On the first piece of paper, draw a wavy hill shape. And a Christmas tree on top!

On the second piece of paper, draw another wavy hill shape. Decorate with a snowman too!

Now cut along the lines you've just drawn on the paper. We'll only need the top parts of each picture.

Make a mixture of 3 spoons of flour and a sprinkle of glitter in a bowl and give it a stir!

Make a mixture of half water and half gloopy glue in your other bowl.

Bring back in your dark piece of paper and place your hill and Christmas tree shape on top.

Cover the edge of the hill and tree in gloopy glue.

Superhero Wristband

Glue a circle of craft foam to your strip of sparkly craft foam.

Glue another shape in the middle of the circle. Decorate the whole strap and circle with colourful sticky dots and the rest of your shapes.

Curl the band around into a loop and stick it together with sticky tape.

There you have it! Your very own Superhero Wristband!

Paper Snowflake

To make this, you will need...

Fold a square of paper in half, then half again.

Then fold one corner onto the other to make a triangle.

Cut one of the corners off in a curved shape.

Cut shapes out of the straight sides. Make sure you leave spaces in between the shapes.

Unfold the shape and lay it onto your paper.

Using a paint brush or a piece of sponge, dab some paint over the holes. Then leave it to dry for a couple of minutes!

Then twist the shape around a little and dab on some different coloured paint. Then leave it to dry again!

Twist the shape again and dab on another colour.

Remove the shape and there you have it. A brilliant Paper Snowflake Pattern!
