What to do:
Step 1
Gather together all the things that you need to make the Bookend Secret Safe. Take the two cereal boxes with flaps on the lid and cover them both, including the lids with white paint. (This makes it a lot easier to cover them with a coloured paint later.) Then leave them to dry.
Step 2
Now paint them with a coloured paint. You need to paint the front, the edge and the back of your box but not the top or right hand side, as they will be the pages of your book. Now using a slightly lighter coloured paint, paint down the side of the book which will be the spine. Also add a rectangle on the front cover to make it look more like a book.
Step 3
Once both boxes are dry, using the black felt tip pen draw some black lines on the white edges of the box for the pages of the books. Then draw around the outline of the rectangle on the front of the box to highlight it.
Step 4
Put a few pebbles in each of the boxes to weigh them down. You can now put any item in the box to keep it secret!
This should take about 30 mins
You will need:
- Two empty cardboard cereal boxes
- A glue stick
- Some white and coloured paint
- A black felt tip pen
- Some pebbles (you can get these from a garden centre)
